I met Tim about 3 years ago while he was helping Marc out at a booth at Gencon. Ever since, I've had the pleasure of many a good conversation whenever I get to see him at a random event or party around town. Thanks Tim, and Thanks Kristina!

Scott Murphy - Shuffle Love Song

Knowing that my musical collection isn't the most "love song" inclusive I was curious to see just what would pop up. Sure, I have various Justin Timberlake (shut up) and Björk songs that I know are love themed, but I also know those would be few and far between amongst nearly 3500 songs. So I set the whole thing to shuffle and eventually, 236 songs in, I came across the first song that had anything to do with love, sort of (though there was one song about a lost love by The Cure...but it was far too depressing).

Not so much of a "fat" bottom...just nice and shapely.

Scott Murphy - Metal Love

Heading out to a concert tonight, so here's a quick sketch of one of my favorite metal musicians, Abbath from the black metal band, Immortal. As I mentioned before, I love all (well, most) music. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't listen to music every moment of the day. It's also great to live in New York city where you can go out and find a great concert on almost any night of the week.

Well, this didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but in any a case I always thought peacocks had a pretty sweet mating ritual. My grandfather used to bring us to a farm when we were younger and they had peacocks. I remember them being some of the most amazing sights when they had their full plumage on view. so anyhow, this is my tired lame attempt.

I've always had a huge love for mountains. I find them to be beautiful and majestic and extreme and terrifying. I think If I lived in an area with more mountains I would certainly have been a mountain climber even though I'm afraid of most heights. Still, I've climbed Mount Washington in New Hampshire, and made an attempt at Galdhøpiggen, the tallest mountain in Norway (unfortunately to be thwarted by weather). Someday I hope to spend some time in the alps and out west in the rockies. In a perfect world, I would live amongst them and paint them every day.

There is also a heart hidden in there.

Scott Murphy - Love Quest Part 3

Having been together for nearly four years thus far, Lis and I have been going as strong as ever. I can only hope we continue to grow and learn and love and adventure for a long long time. Here's what our future looks like:

This was also the valentine I gave to her today...she loved it. It encompasses pretty much everything we enjoy (except illustration, but I guess it is an illustration..so that counts). I wanted it have a similar feel the album covers by our favorite band Manowar! Who's original covers were done by Ken Kelly, they're ridiculous and awesome. Also, that's our future dog when we don't live in New York and have space for it.

Scott Murphy - Love Quest Part 2

So Lis and I became official after dating for about a month or so. Ever since, we've been nonstop in our seeking out quests and adventures.

Over the years we've managed to travel to Canada, Spain, Turkey, England, Scotland, Norway, and countless places in the US. I couldn't ask for a better travel partner in the whole world. 

Scott Murphy - Love Quest Part 1

Back in 2010, after much difficulty trying to meet females of a like-mind in New York City, I decided to ask a few pals about my options for meeting a quality mate. A good buddy said, "Well there's this online site, it's decent." I thought to myself, "Online dating! That sounds extremely desperate and ridiculous!" But being too much of a wuss-face to actually talk to anyone in real-life anyway, I decided to give it a shot. It was free anyway. The site was called OkCupid. So I signed up for an account and made a profile just for the hell of it. It wasn't so bad, and I could actually search for people who shared the same interests as myself. After going on a few dates with people from there, I narrowed my search down to only those which most closely matched my own interests. Eventually I sent a message to Lis who was the most interesting of all the people I was closely matched with. After some emailing, we decided to meet in person. I was excited and terrified.

I decided that we could meet for dinner and followed that up with some tickets to the Upright Citizens Brigade. For some reason we met at 3, even though the show wasn't until 7. We met in the city (meeting a person you've only seen pictures of a few times before can be quite scary), but my fears were cast off as she was as beautiful as ever, and we went off and got dinner at a nearby diner. Actually, as a side-note, we had our first dinner next to Carson Kressley (from Queer Eye, I hadn't seen the show, but she knew him and I recognized him) and discussed how crazy that was. In any case, we finished with dinner within about an hour and thus realized we had at least 2 hours before our comedy show would begin. Not knowing what to do, we walked over to Madison Square Park and sat down on a bench. It was as awkward as it always is when talking with someone whom you've never met at length, but I found that we had so many things in common it became fairly easy to talk forever. We chatted about art, tattoos, traveling the world, our love for skulls and the grim, and lastly our love for heavy metal. The remainder of the date went well, and we would continue to see each other thereafter.....

I must confess that today I am cheating a bit because I've got a major deadline coming up and have been working like crazy! 
Today I present an illustration I did almost exactly three years ago which I made as the first valentine I gave to my then, and still girlfriend, Lis. It's quite different than my normal style, but to this day it still hangs on our refrigerator because we both enjoy it. He's some sort of abominable snowman who's extremely happy being filled with so much love.

Scott Murphy - Snow Love!

I'm so excited that we're finally getting a proper blizzard here in New York. The past couple years haven't really seen many nice big storms. I know that many people don't like snow, but I absolutely love it. No other natural weather occurrence has the ability to turn every day environments into magical wonderlands like snow does. When I was young, I remember countless winters where it would snow well over 12 inches and very often, 24 inches. I would always go out fully suited up so that every inch of my skin was completely covered, and I'd carry a ruler. Thus, I would wander around the neighborhood measuring the depths of snow to see where it was deepest. It was always so quiet and peaceful. Not to mention the great snow forts and tunnels I built in many a snow mound! So here's my quick ode to snow. I'm sure there'll be more in days to come.
