Ricardo Lopez Ortiz- Gatchaman!

When I was around six years old every Saturday morning consisted of my sitting in front of the T.V and watching Gatchaman/G-Force/Science Ninja Team or whatever other name the show's had over the years. Depicted above is my favorite character from the show, Joe Condor/Dirk Daring (depending on translations). Second in command, a deadly sharp shooter with the eyes of an eagle, nerves of steel and overall bad-ass.

Words cannot express how much I love this show!

Jaime Zollars - Falling

Falling in love...this character is giving up control to unknown territory.

Narciso Espiritu - Heavy Heart

Kristina Carroll - Medea

Charcoal/digital
I've always been a little fascinated with the character of Medea from Greek Mythology. Jason wouldn't have got anywhere near that Golden Fleece if it hadn't been for her. They get married, have kids and then he abandons her as soon as he finds a princess with a better deal. In her grief, she goes mad and murders their sons. Got to love those Greeks.

Chris O'Neill - SEGA LOVE

Actually... It was more of a LOVE / HATE  relationship... I'd always die right before beating Dr. Robotnik in Sonic 2...

- CHRIS

Sarah Gay - Regal Flemish Love Goat

I have no words other than to say, I love absurd Flemish portraiture...and goats.
Why not combine two loves?

Cynthia Sheppard - I Love My Job

I've always liked the expression "to draw blood from a turnip." It's been a really long and tiring work day, and I've figuratively (and now literally) drawn blood from my pencil.

Kate Feirtag- I love horses

Feeling tired from work and training so I wanted to draw something that always makes me happy.  A pony!  I grew up with horses, had horse sheets and curtains and toys and bookshelves full of ribbons and books on horses.  I even have a horse tattoo. To say I was, and still am, obsessed is an understatement.

On a side note, it's nice to see that I can still draw.  I was feeling overwhelmed with color since this blog started so I've decided (for now) to stick to graphite and ease into paint.  Also, I need to invest in a computer and a scanner.

Marc Scheff - Free Love

Did you know that when Timothy Leary died, he had his head cut off, cryogenically frozen, and shot into space? I know it's true because Tim told me.

Carly Janine Mazur - Caution: Drowning Hazard

3.5"x3.5" acrylic on wood
Whenever I'm at my teaching job, no matter if I'm wandering the halls, at the front desk, or in my room I'm always met by hugs by the kids. So much so that at times I wave my hands around and plead "Help, help! I'm drowning in love!"

Tim Paul - Main Squeeze

It's been a long day, and I'm tired from working all day. I can draw, but I can't really think. So here is a drawing of my husband, that I did a while ago. It did it as a sample to show that I can draw facial hair at various stages. Clearly this is stubble.

If ever there was a perfect case of better half, he's it.

Alice Stanne - Love Birds

These lovebirds were a small detail in my Monday submission and I thought they deserved a little more of my time. It's been a while since I have done any acrylics so I decided to paint it up!

Scott Murphy - Pig Love

Rarely is there seen a love as strong as that between a pig and her frog.

Jeanine Henderson—Queen of Hearts

I had fun with this one today—just wished I had more time to work it further!

Terese Nielsen - Guidance

Cloth, acrylic, colored pencil, gold leaf, small embellishments

Turning into ones heart for direction.

Jeffrey Alan Love - Tales of King Arthur

When I was little (probably 5 or 6) my parents went on a trip to England, leaving my brother and I at home in Germany.  I thought this was incredibly unfair, as Robin Hood lived in England.  The entire time they were gone I sulked, stomping around as I imagined all the fun my parents were having in Sherwood Forest, eating roast boar from a spit and swinging on ropes from trees.  All was forgiven when they came back, though, because they brought me a book.  I had never seen anything like it.  I fell in love with the art, the stories, everything about it.  I became obsessed with King Arthur and the illustrator Victor Ambrus.  This was the book that made me want to become an artist.  I own multiple copies of it (the original given a special place of pride of course, with my name childishly scrawled on the inside, and the faint, erased pencil markings on one of the illustrations where my brother drew poop coming out of the naked Elaine as she kneels before Lancelot - how dare he!) and often give it as a gift to others.  This book planted the seed that continues to grow within me.  Over the past year and a half I've worked mostly as an editorial illustrator, but in the last few months I've realized that my true passion is in fantasy and science-fiction, and have started working towards creating a portfolio and getting work in that field, and I have never been happier making work - perhaps because I have become that little kid again, dreaming that I can accomplish what seems impossible, that I might be the one who can draw the sword from the stone.

And I eventually got to Sherwood Forest, and it was AWESOME.

Scott Brundage- Day 6

Apes, zombies... and now my bag of tricks is empty.

Kyle Smart- Love at first sight

I completely spaced and forgot yesterday was a challenge day and did my own thing, so here is yesterdays challenge.

Challenge #3 for Thursday Feb. 7th

Our second Challenge  comes courtesy of Cynthia Sheppard AND Jaime Zollars

The subject is:  "Love is Battlefield"

Chris O'Neill - Love at First Sight

Uuuuummm... Well, you know... There's nothing like the first time.

- CHRIS

Jaime Zollars - Love at first sight

My character here has a bird obsession. She has found an immediate match in her little pet, whose hair style is uncannily similar to hers. I think the little serpent is jealous. Pardon the picture quality, this is an iphone photo I snapped while holding a fussy baby.
