This is my day of love to my most awesome fans.
Sorry, this post gets messed up with the east coast/west coast time-frame. I still have another couple of hours here on the west coast to post for day 11. : )
This is a quick bit of fun for the love and appreciation I have for my "Magic the Gathering" fans! Thank you all!!
Anyone that posts "something" here on this "Month of Love" post, qualifies for an (in a hat drawing, on Feb. 14th) to win this (quickly altered playable) "Force of Will", or a second prize, limited edition of 50 print (of your choice) or third prize, limited edition of 500 print (also of your choice). Thanks for looking!
Big February loves! <3 <3
------------------
It's the evening of February 13th. Thanks so much to everyone who came over and left such amazing comments and looked at our "Month of Love" projects.
Just so you know the cutoff for making a comment is 9 a.m. pacific standard time. At that time we'll print whatever names are listed, cut them, throw them in a hat, and we'll do a little video of me picking the names. We'll put that video here within this blog post, and on my FB page "The Art of Terese Nielsen" announcing the winners. We'll post it in the afternoon tomorrow (14th) on Valentines day. Good luck, February loves, and spread the love. : )
---------------
And the winners are...
Sorry for the blurry close-ups. We just did the quick unedited Flip camera version. For the 3 winners please contact me at terese@tnielsen.com so we can work out addresses to mail your goodies out to, and in the case of #2 and #3 winners, which print you'd like. Oh and to view which prints I have available please go to tnielsen.com .
----------------------
March 5th UPDATE:
The "Month of Love" giveaway was great fun. Thank you all for participating!
Joe Klesert selected a 13x19" "Angel of Jubilation" print, Kaja Federowicz picked the large 17x22" "Enter the Infinite" print, and the *first place winner for the drawing* "Tanarin" who posted here *won*!
HOWEVER-- I can't get in touch with whomever this is! If anyone knows them by all means let them know. There's been no response thus far and it's been over 2 weeks now. I'll wait until March 14th and then post another quick video of me drawing a new name. I saved them all in the hat just in case this happened.
Please check back here or on my FB page to find out who wins this next time. : )
-----------------------------------
March 15 UPDATE:
A new name has been selected for the 1st place altered Force of Will! Here's a quick video of me drawing the name.
For the record I had NO idea I'd be so wiggly in the video... swear to god I wasn't drunk. Plus, on the teeny flip video I "thought" it was in focus, but no. Anyway, long way of saying the video is lame and I would have redid it but then the drawing wouldn't have been legit, so we're stuck with a crappy video. Sorry about that. : ) Now please contact me so I can give this away! : )

ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful. Here's to hoping!
ReplyDeleteLove your work Terese, would love to have this card. I've never owned one of these old ones! You are one of my biggest inspirations and a major reason why I'm studying illustration! Just ordered the giant Bassandra poster print off SCG too, can't wait for it to be on my wall :)
ReplyDeleteI'm friends with you on Facebook, here is my name I don't know how to link it to this site:
https://www.facebook.com/mark.dubben.3
I do love all of your art work.
ReplyDeleteThis card looks pretty kick butt!
ReplyDeleteI love this back!
ReplyDeleteThis would be quite nice in the cube, crossing my fingers!

ReplyDeleteI've been trying to think of what to say in my post, so I'll just say that I've always loved your passion for illustrating for M:tG and other projects. Thanks for being one of the best!

Cool! Hope to see a queen of hearts.

ReplyDeleteI got hit by a Force of Will the other day for my first time. It was both upsetting and exciting at the same time. :D
Love it! You continue to be a huge inspiration for all us here!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's an amazing giveaway!
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, whenever someone says something to me about "fantasy illustration" being "not art" or something like that, your work is the first thing I bring up to set them straight.
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing! My husband is studying art at MSU and adores your work, we pick up cards and prints wherever we can because you are his inspiration.
ReplyDeleteTerese-
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of your art and would love to have that Force of Will in my collection. I was so happy to get an Enter the Infinite the other day in a pack, and was amazed at how much detail is still retained in that small space. Breathtaking work!
Regards-
Matthew
Beautifull! "The power of love"
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! This should be a nice addition to my collection of your works of art!
ReplyDeleteBest contest ever!
ReplyDeleteThere is "something" in this card. Nostalgic and Awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteThat's really clever alt art. We all love your work.
ReplyDeleteHey Terese, I've always amdired your art and your contribution to the community, thank you so much for these years and for the ones to come. :D
ReplyDeleteThank so much for spreading so much love and cheer! <3

ReplyDeleteWhoever wins this needs to be mandated to say "Stop! In the name of love" as they play it. It may be quickly done, but it's still "something" glorious! :D
ReplyDeleteI love your art in M:tG! Thanks for being so awesome to your fans.
ReplyDeleteAwesome...as always.
ReplyDeleteYou must *really* love your fans.... :-)
ReplyDeleteLove all you awesome alters!
ReplyDeleteThere's always something awesome to look forward to on this page.
ReplyDeletelooks awesome
ReplyDeleteOne of the cooler FOW alters :)
ReplyDeleteI love your alters.
ReplyDeleteAmazing alter, really cool contest for your fans. I love your artwork, happy valentines!
ReplyDeletesomething!
ReplyDeleteThe king of counter. Good job!
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE you too, Terese!
ReplyDeleteSuch awesome art! I keep my signed Unholy Strength at my office so I can check out the art every day!
ReplyDeleteMmm, I'm lovin' it!
DeleteIn my home we have two framed prints and three signed foil cards. I give away signed cards at the holidays. I waited in your line four times at GP Anaheim.
ReplyDeleteThere's my something!
This is yet another amazing thing you've done that shows love and appreciation! I've always admired that about you! Just the thought that someone can win something this fantastic is absolutely incredible!
ReplyDeleteI want this FoW so bad!!! It looks so good =]
ReplyDeleteThanks for your art and your passion!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful! Big February loves Terese!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Italy ;-)
Big ol' warm hug from your friend in Indiana. Keep up the good work.

ReplyDeleteThe greatest joy is to have Terese Nielsen to do an alteration for my Force of will. It is like coffee (being excellent) with adding some sugars to Perfection. Happy Valentine Day, Terese and this altered force of will will go into my Poker Deck. : )
ReplyDeleteThis is a Force of Will especially for lovers, a great gift for Valentine's Day.

ReplyDeleteBecause love is the place where we build our houses...
This corto won the world competition in 2008 and inspired the movie UP.
Enjoy! Hughs
Thank you for all the magnificent ideas and art you have graced us with over the years, and for being thoughtful enough to give us the opportunity to earn one of them in this contest.
ReplyDeleteKeep up a good work.
Marko K.
Hahaha, what a fantastic alter. If Alice's Queen of Hearts was in fact a male, I can imagine a situation looking a little something like this.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this contest, and happy day of love to you, too!
I love your art and Force of Will is one of my favourites.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have this alter as a present for my boyfriend. It would make an awesome Valentine/birthday present: it is his birthday the 14th as well.
Anyway, great giveaway and I wish you happy Valentines Day!
hope to win, love from the sunny isles of the Philippines
ReplyDeleteExcellent work Terese! Now we'll need to talk you into doing a Jack and a Queen as well (and maybe a Joker to round out the playset).
ReplyDeleteHuge fan of your work!! Can't wait too meet you in a few weeks at GP Charlotte!! Keep up the good work!!!
ReplyDeleteVery cool, I love how many different ideas can be altered on this card. It is definitely one of the kings as well. haha
ReplyDeleteThat FOW is simply awesome!! Nice job as always :)
ReplyDeleteHope, is the last to die!And my Hope is immortal like you job... Thanks for you exist.
ReplyDeleteSounds Great! Love your artwork!
ReplyDeleteI find your art simply amazing, Terese. I hope these "month of love" prompts have been as enjoyable for you as they have been for me to follow. I discovered your art from Magic, but I'm really appreciating your talents outside that realm. I hope you continue to share these things with the community in the future. :) Happy Valentines Day a little early, but it's never too early to show the love. Stay awesome!
ReplyDeletegreat work! Like everything you makes
ReplyDeleteI won't say I'm an unconditional fan, but I really really like some of your pieces. I was already considering buying a print or something of some of them. Crossing my fingers.
ReplyDeleteSo far, I've only known "Terese, a Magic illustrator", but this Month of Love thing allows us all to get to know "Terese, a person". It's wonderful to be invited to your private, special world, Terese; to discover your inspirations, the very heart of your work.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Kaja... you should watch the video above. : )
DeleteGreat contest <3 Greetings from Sweden/Denmark :)
ReplyDeleteThere are artists who are primarily concerned with making beautiful images, and that's wonderful. What really makes your work stand out for me is that I feel there is more going on. I'm not just looking at a image that is aesthetically pleasing, but I'm being told a story, engaged in a conversation. Practice will enhance skill, but heart will carry the work to a place beyond description.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your gift with the world.
Something. :P
ReplyDeleteThat's a fun alter. I've always enjoyed your hand crafted work over the years as opposed to the onslaught of digital paints.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to need a big hat to draw the names from! Thank you for making Magic that more special.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletewow that alter is neat.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. Very creative.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSomething wonderful. Here's to hoping I get doubly lucky on my birthday to boot :) I'm a gigantic fan of your work, and the walls of the game room reflect it too.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful thing to do for your fans. Not only are your illustrations for Magic cards excellent, but your alters always look out of this world, too. (Even this "quick one.") Thank you for looking out for your fans! I hope to play with many, many more of your Magic cards in the future. (Even Hanna. Especially Hanna. :-))
ReplyDeleteWanted to tell you how your work is spectacular from Day 1 to the most recent Enter the Infinite. Your voice is immediately recognizable and gorgeous, thank you for making a great game even better.
ReplyDeleteYou're an amazing artist Terese. You're one of the few artists that I've gone and bought something from their store. You have some of the best art in Magic and I look forward to seeing what you have done in each new set. Thanks for making this card game just that much better, I know we all appreciate it. Thanks again (and here's hoping I can get lucky in your draw)!
ReplyDeleteAmazing work, Terese! I've only spoken with/written to a handful of MTG artists, but you are by far one of the fan-friendliest. We get that artists are busy people, and there are many things you don't have to do for us fans - but you do them anyway! That shows a lot of love.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm not really a touchy-feely kind of person, but I did bring this BASKET OF CARROTS <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Your art in the game is so different than others, yet so beautiful. You are really an artist and I'd hope you never stopped doing some for Magic because I feel it's important to have diversity in the media of cards, I mean, digital paintings are cool, and character depiction is really important, however I feel sometimes your composition are just perfect. I thank you for the whole community !
ReplyDeleteSomething, anything.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite cards, drawn by one of my favorite magic illustrators. Great job, as always!
ReplyDeleteVery cool, Terese. Thanks for thinking of us! Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteThis. This is why your fans love you. I <3 unselfish artists.
ReplyDeleteLove it! :-)
ReplyDelete"Something"
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen that alter style before! Brings out the gambler in me :) Awesome contest idea!
Sweet! All around. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea and the card looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteWOW- Your work never ceases to amaze me. Very generous of you to show appreciation to your fans like this!
ReplyDeleteCrossing fingers, and all my love to you, Terese. King of Hearts!? Pfff... YOU are the Queen of WotC's artists. Keep it up! ;)
ReplyDeleteC. M. Molina (BlackBull)
This is a great way to show some fan appreciation. I keep hoping for a chance to catch you at a convention to sign some of my favorite cards.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful FoW! You're so sweet for doing this Terese. Have a great Valentines Day.
ReplyDeleteYou said post "something", and I'd post "algo" :)
Greetings from Venezuela!
Wonderful alter, wonderful card, wonderful artist!
ReplyDeleteA big hug from some of your followers from Spain here!
ReplyDeleteBest bday present ever! Haha
ReplyDeleteGuru Lands 4ever
ReplyDeleteI will be bringing some stuff for signing in Charlotte...! It should be fun. :)
ReplyDeleteJust swinging by to wish everyone a wonderful and safe Valentine's Day. Lovely work btw. <3
ReplyDeleteLucky 100 comment! I love your art, I found you through MTG but am a fan because of you and your art! Thank You, Joe
ReplyDeleteWell, Terese, looks like you win for the most comments ever! wow!
ReplyDelete^^ Cool, I wonder how the whole set would look like... ace of spades, queen of diamonds and Jack of clubs (multi-purpose cards!).
ReplyDeleteGood luck to all :D
Dang, if I win, now I'm going to have to send over more Force of Wills to complete the alter set :)
ReplyDeleteYour artwork was one of the reasons why I started playing MTG in the first place. Springjack Pasture was one of the first cards I ever got and I've never looked back.
ReplyDeleteJustin Cohen
I will say two things. 1) Wow, so many comments. 2) Give me the card. 3) See 2.
ReplyDeletevery nice alter!
ReplyDeleteVery Nice!
ReplyDeleteWow, even something that you purport is just a "quick bit of fun" is still amazing and makes me smile. Thanks for all of your beautiful contributions to our favorite game!
ReplyDeleteHi Terese! Love your work, as always. Fingers crossed.
ReplyDelete: ) You can uncross your fingers now.
DeleteWhat a great way to show appreciation to your fans while giving something back. The alternate Swords to Plow Shear, Kird Ape and Force of Will remain to be some of my all time favorite MTG art and playable cards.
ReplyDeleteYour art is totally awesome and inspiring
awesome give away. I enjoy seeing your new pieces. Keep up the great work.

A beautiful alter Terese and a great idea to give it away to one of your fans.

ReplyDeleteone of my favourite styles of art in mtg, keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty sweet alter
ReplyDeleteWell done. This looks awesome. Hope I win it!
ReplyDeleteVery cool artwork, love you work in general!
ReplyDeleteThe Force of Will in my cube is signed by my wife after she made me make a proxy of the alternate art version because she identifies so strongly with the art and flavour of the card. That being said in my "M:TG Art Binder" you do make up the majority :)
ReplyDeleteSadly i'm not so sure this could replace my wifes card in my cube so hopefuly it goes to someone who will play it!
Much Love
Andrew
Another great alter if I say so myself.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to watch the video... : )
DeleteFree force of will?!? Yes Please!

ReplyDeleteHere's hopin'. Love the alter!
ReplyDeleteHow can you NOT put you're hand up for the King of HEARTS!!
ReplyDeleteThis is my entry. I am entering. Something.
ReplyDeleteI adore your work! Card art is one of the major reasons I began collecting Magic cards almost 20 years ago and it remains my favorite aspect of the game. You are among my favorite artists - please keep up the amazing work!
ReplyDeleteAwesome contest! It was great to meet you in Los Angeles! One of the highlights of the trip to the GP!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, I'm a huge fan of Terese Nielsen!

ReplyDeleteWonderful amazing work.
ReplyDeleteSomething :-) it would be awesome to win something for my husband for our 5th Valentines day together. My first v day gift to him was a play set of howling mines and Akroma, Angel of Wrath.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, and quite a way to draw attention to the project as a whole.
ReplyDeletealways an inspiration! i just recently unpacked my, "The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity" book & thought I should really try and open the thing! Your "month of love" has encouraged me over and over again. I should just do it!
